Bentley 3.5 L Close Coupled Sports Saloon 1935

Ex Pinewood Studio Car.

This car was used by Pinewood Studios to take film stars of the 50's and 60's from airports to Film Studios and Premieres, so they could arrive in style. The likes of Marilyn Monroe regularly graced the back seats.

Bodywork individually designed for Dr. harold Thwaite and bult in aluminium by Hooper The Royal Coach Builders.

Top speed 95 mph. Petrol consumption 18 mpg.

Each car was custom made to the owner's requirements, Rolls-Royce being responsible for the engine and chassiswhich then went to the owner's coachbuilder to have the body hand made to the owner's chosen design. This took about six months, and the total cost would have been about £1600 - £1900 ( a three bed detached house in 1935 was about £400 !)

Styles varied considerably and each car was unique.

This car was restored about thirty years ago and is virtually original built.
